PURPOSE: The main scientific purpose of the article is to present the results and analyze research on the level of development of road infrastructure in Poland in 2010-2019.DESIGN/METHODOLOGY/APPROACH: The research object was sixteen voivodeships in Poland. The analysis was carried out using quantitative data from 2019 available in the sources of the Central Statistical Office. The linear ordering method was used based on the taxonomic measure of development (TMR) according to Hellwig's concept, which allowed distinguishing the ranking of the development of road transport infrastructure. The main source used to write this article was the available literature on logistic infrastructure and publications on road infrastructure. Thus, they made it possible to draw conclusions.FINDINGS: The first section presents an analysis of the foundations of the theory of transport infrastructure. The second part describes the research methodology and presents the results of the research representing the issues discussed. The analysis result is the presentation of the development of road transport infrastructure in individual voivodeships in terms of the adopted measures.PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS: The article provides an analysis of the road infrastructure and the state of its surface, in Poland. Corrective actions are also presented depending on the parameters used, as well as geostatistical statements with a percentage distribution of the technical status classes of the selected paving parameters.ORIGINALITY/VALUE: As a result of the research undertaken, using the methods presented in the paper, on the one hand contributed to the enrichment of knowledge on transport infrastructure, on the other, the issues of the technical condition of road infrastructure in Poland were identified.peer-reviewe

PURPOSE: The aim of the research resulting in this article is to identify the stages of evolution of the concept of transport, as well as to forecast further developments in this area of science. On this basis, a network of co-cited key words in the field of road transport was developed.DESIGN/METHODOLOGY/APPROACH: A bibliometric analysis of the literature on road transport was carried out. The data source was the international interdisciplinary database Scopus. The time span of the analysis was 2000-2022. A co-occurrence network analysis of road transport keywords was performed using VOSviewer version 1.6.19.FINDINGS: The results obtained are related to the extraction of cognitive knowledge about the preferred directions of development of the analysed category - road transport. Based on the analysis, the evolution of the number of published works on road transport between 2000 and 2022 and the countries with the highest number of publications in the area under study are presented. In addition, a co-occurrence network of road transport keywords was constructed using the VosViewer tool.PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS: The results developed will be used to identify effective pathways and research gaps for the road transport category. The identification of sources with the highest productivity and citations can be used by potential publication authors to adopt an appropriate publishing strategy.ORIGINALITY/VALUE: There are now many publications that preface the bibliometric analysis of the road transport literature. This article provides an up-to-date, comprehensive analysis of this field and enriches the understanding of its existing patterns and trends.peer-reviewe

Placenta previa percreta with bladder involvement managed conservatively – case report

Placenta percreta is potentially a life-threatening condition. Pelvic organ invasion of the placenta carries high mortality and morbidity to the mother and fetus. We present a 33 year old gravida 3, para 2-0-0 female with placenta previa, percreta with bladder invasion. Placental invasion caused a giant vesicouterine fistula. The pregnant woman was managed conservatively until 33 weeks gestation, at which time she underwent a classical cesarean section. Postoperatively the patient was treated with methotrexate. Immediately postpartum the placenta was left in situ and successfully removed transvaginally after 11 weeks postpartum

The aim of the study was to include determine the economic potential of the farms from Lower Silesia participating in the implementation of agri-environmental program. The results were presented in respect of the land area as well as farms that were not beneficiaries of agri-environmental program (action Axis II: Improving the environment and rural areas Rural Development Programme RDP 2007-2013). The economic potential is determined by a number of parameters that are often difficult to measure. In the research process were taken into account the following parameters characterizing the studied subjects: economic size of farms, farm area, the value of equity holdings (the value of total assets at 1 ha)

Determinants of Fixed Asset Investment in the Polish Farms

    No full text
The aim of this study was to determine the factors affecting the level of investment activity of agricultural producers in Poland. Detailed studies included 4309 farms that kept accounts within the Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN) accounting system in the years 2010–2018. The study uses Person’s linear correlation method, the multiple correlation method, and regression analysis. For the regression analysis, both static and dynamic models were applied. The level of expenditure on agricultural investment varied in the surveyed households and showed an upward trend during the years 2010–2018. Studies have shown that the investment activity of Polish farms largely depends on the possibility of raising funds from European Union programs dedicated, inter alia, to the development of agricultural holdings. The regression analysis demonstrated that the principal factors affecting the level of agricultural investment include: the amount of long-term liabilities, the family income of the farm, and the amount of investment subsidies. Preferential loans are an important parameter in a dynamic investment model. This study suggests that agricultural policy factors should be taken into account to ensure the appropriate development of Polish farms

The research was conducted in the individual farm located in Opolskie Province. The purpose of investigation was the analysis of intensity of expenditure on chemical plant protection in cultivation of winter wheat, seed rape, sugar beet and potatoes. The expenditure on plant protection was expressed by pesticides usage in 1kg of active substance per 1 ha, the value PLN, treatments multiplicity and the costs of chemical treatments performance. The profitability was determined using guide profitability indices. Ten year analysis proved that since 2004 year the expenditure on plant protection had been increasing in each particular cultivation and its profitability had been getting worse despite the increased prices of the protected product and the yield obtained

Risk Management Using Network Thinking Methodology on the Example of Rail Transport

    No full text
The purpose of the article is to define the risk factors in rail transport and to show that the lack of sufficient identification of risks in individual phases affects the implementation of this type of transport. A literature study has been conducted to identify key risk factors and their impact on rail transport in Poland. For this purpose, a list of railway accidents in 2010–2020 in which people were injured, or there were significant losses in terms of the environment was presented. The realization of the objective focused on research proceedings covering the theoretical and cognitive sphere. This study included an analysis of the existing theoretical heritage in the area of risk management processes in rail transport, as well as a survey of the empirical research, which concentrated on the identification and assessment of key factors that influence the realization of rail transport in Poland. The work is of a utilitarian nature, as the need for conscious risk management has been demonstrated in rail transport, and guidelines for risk management in rail transport have been developed. In addition, the paper presents the possibilities offered by modeling a problem situation with the help of network thinking methodology for solving complex problems, including supporting creativity on the example of railroad transport in Poland. To define problem situations in the studied area, a complex process of a multifaceted approach to the analyzed issue is required. When assessing the effectiveness of risk management in rail transport, one should take into account the adverse factors influencing the studied phenomenon. The main sources used to write this article were the available literature in the field of emergency management and publications on railroad transport. The conclusions have been based on the results of logical analysis, verified empirically with the use of statistical methods
